Biographical Information

Yangjin Kim received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Tokyo in 2007 and 2015, respectively. He was a technical research personnel at the Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials (KIMM) from 2009 to 2012 as a military service. After obtaining his Ph.D. in 2015 and completing a postdoctoral research position, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Tokyo in 2016. Later that year, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering at Pusan National University, where he was promoted to Associate Professor in 2020. In 2024, he returned to The University of Tokyo as an Associate Professor for a short-term research period through the Invitational Fellowships for Research in Japan program, supported by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). In 2025, he was promoted to the position of the Professor at Pusan National University. His research interests include precision measurement using wavelength-scanning Fizeau interferometry and fringe analysis through phase modulation. His professional standing is underscored by active affiliations with leading organizations, including the Korean Society for Precision Engineering (KSPE), the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers (KSME), the Japan Society for Precision Engineering (JSPE), the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
